Long Island - "Isola Lunga"

The Marsala lagoon includes four islands, including the "Isola Grande," also called Long Island - "Isola Lunga."  It is part of the archipelago of the Stagnone "Oriented Nature Reserve" of Marsala. Previously, it was formed of rocky islets that joined together to form the long island.

It is a singular place in all respects. To get there, you must cross a stretch of road where the sea remains very low - which usually does not exceed the knees.  Or, you can arrive by the boat that departs from the "Ettore Infersa" mill.

Once on the island, it is possible to immerse yourself in a naturalistic environment.  It hosts a large number of protected or endangered species, such as the Marigold L., Cynomorium coccineum L., and many other halophytic plants.  These are together with a variety of birds that nest there that make the island a natural paradise suitable for trekking.

It is possible to enjoy the shallow and clear water by taking a bath.  Moreover, the presence of salt in this area gives the sea a shade of a breathtaking pink color.
